Back to the Data Model
There are four Steps to my Approach :-
Step 1. Determine the Factors involved.
Step 2. Identify the Data Sources for each Factor.
Step 3. Consolidate the Data Sources into a 3rd. Normal Form Data Warehouse
for review by the Users.
Step 4. Draft the design of a Data Mart to generate totals, percentages and other KPIs.
Here are the original Specifications provided by the User :-
Hi Barry,
My name is Fahim - I've been a long time reviewer of materials on your site as it's grown
immensely over the years.
Thank you for providing such an excellent resource on industries, concepts, ideas and plans.!
I have found my way into a situation where I need to model a data mart to effectively capture
Trader/Scheduler information for petroleum shipments.
Basically, Traders of various kinds of petroleum products contracting for distributions to/from
locations at certain times on certain vessels etc, having inspectors monitor the products at the ports, etc.
I've been reviewing the Container Shipping Model and it has some analogous components.
I would love to see the Access DB for a better look and understanding.
Further, do you have anything directly applicable to the subject?
I'm just getting started with my research and you're the first place I've turned to.
Hopefully I can find some good conceptual ideas on plans and constraints online somewhere.
Cheers,
Fahim.
