Business Intelligence can be defined as "deriving Information from Data".

Current Best Practice includes tailored User Portals, Dashboards and Key Performance Indicators,('KPIs').

For a Business Intelligence System, an enterprise needs to manage the data from End-to-End.

This requires quality assurance from the Source to the Target.

It is becoming more important for a 'Data Steward' to assume ownership of data at each stage in its processing. I have just (April 10th.2006) bought a book on Performance Dashboards by Wayne Eckerson,of TDWI, that gets 5 stars on Amazon.
